The three year charity initiative ‘Armitage Thanks’ kick started in 2015 with the aim of raising £200K to be donated to Bowel & Cancer Research (40%) and good causes with a special significance to communities local to the company’s sites in, Staffordshire and Hull (60%).
As its target was successfully reached early, Armitage Shanks will continue to fundraise to raise even more funds by the end of 2017. The business’ fundraising will culminate at a celebratory event in November, where the grand total will be revealed.
Armitage Shanks partnered with the Hull City of Culture 2017 team to create Fountain17, an exhibition of artwork inspired by the iconic urinal artwork Fountain by Marcel Duchamp. These works, created by 45 artists and Lemn Sissay MBE, are now part of a touring exhibition and will be auctioned off at the end of this year to raise even more funds for Armitage Thanks.
Lots of stories could be told about Armitage Shanks as the most known bathroom manufacturer in the UK, marking trends in the history of the industry as well as being part of the Great British National Psyche.
